The headline says every second car in Sweden fails the annual safety test. This is then connected to a picture of Toyota's emblem (something you almost NEVER see otherwise - on the contrary, low quality (compared to Japanese) brands such as e.g. VW, Audi, BMW*, Renault, Peugeot, MB, Volvo** etc are always generously exposed in positive images while Japanese brands are usually carefully hidden - counts grand pianos as well. Whereas the Steinway label is always shown on TV, the better brand, Yamaha, when chosen by the performer - i.e. those who aren't satisfied with the Steinway usually offered - is carefully avoided). However, the truth is that the Toyota's turned out to be the safest (together with other Japanese brands, as they've always been, year after year, while European brands occupy the bottom of the list)!

* More than 100 yrs ago most cars were made in the technologically easiest way: A 6-in line engine directly connected to a gear box from which a long drive shaft propels the rear wheels. This is stone age tech & only defendable on special cars for special purposes & constellations! Volvo was long one of the last dinosauries but dropped this concept in the early 1990s. But BMW has managed to make a "drivability" (BMWs are notorious for bad drivability immediately when the road is wet or not clean enough!) & "quality" (average Euro standard on bigger models, below avergae when it comes to Minis) & "tech" (absolutely nothing - even their racing cars use Japanese parts when it comes to high tech -. ** Unless, of course, they have Yamaha engine & Toyota's gearbox (as the more expensive Volvo's usually have). However, because of the lousy overall quality the car beahves badly anyway. Just ask the Swedish mother who saw the family's new Volvo XC90 (car of the year!?) bursting into flames after she had parked it and, luckily, already left the kids at school!

This constant misinformation to the ignorant public abt car safety is fueled by a racist attemt to cover up for technical shortcomings compared to the Japanese. Prius, Toyota's green tech wonder, revolutionaized car production 1997 (YES, 1997!) by introducing a whole new technological concept that makes non-polluting electrical driving possible where there are many children& other people, while also making it possible to regain energy lost in braking. This latter feature was new & should be credited not blamed, when there are still some room to optimize the software.

The faulty accelerator was a non-Japanese product on some (not Prius) cars made OUTSIDE Japan by an American manufacturer!

How many have died or being victimized by Western cars with their low quality standars through the decades?! Volvo, BMW, Audi etc, are notorious for car fires, accelerating cruise controls, electrical faults etc. Due to the overall difference in greenishness & quality Western car proiducers owe the Japanese ones a lot!

Non-Japanese cars burst into flames far more often than Japanese brands!
